A Look at Iran's Hospitals and Quality of Their Services

The average age of a hospital bed in developed countries, European ones for instance, is 7-10 years. In Iran however, with age of hospitals being 35 and higher   Iran,  21 August 2017 -- As part of each country’s infrastructures, hospitals and quality of their services indicate in some ways how developed each country and its healthcare services are. In Iran, however, hospitals and the quality of their services are in a horrible state, a fact acknowledged by regime’s own officials as well. A serious problem in this regard is related to hospital buildings. Many of Iran’s hospital buildings have fallen into disrepair, so much so that in some cases there’s a danger of them collapsing so that it would be quite unsafe to stay inside. The situation is so terrible that even regime officials and media are forced to acknowledge parts of this reality.       Many people in cities and villages, especially in areas far from city centers, are deprived of minimum medical provisions

A staff member removes the Iranian flag from the stage during the Iran nuclear talks at the Vienna International Center National Review, August 17, 2017  - It’s no secret that President Trump would like to shake off the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear agreement with Iran. Negotiated by the Obama administration and opposed by most Americans when it was finalized in 2015, it was called by candidate Trump “the stupidest deal of all time.” In his search for the right mechanism to break free of Obama’s nuclear handcuffs, he appears to have settled on declaring that Iran is in violation of the agreement. Questions about the fate of the international arrangement came to the fore during Trump’s presidency first in April and again in July when the recurring 90-day deadline to certify Iran’s compliance came up. According to multiple reports, Trump was ready to label Iran noncompliant but on both occasions, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson hadn’t prep

France condemns execution of a juvenile in Iran

This execution is contrary to Iran's international commitments   France, August 16, 2017  -- France condemns the execution in Iran, on August 10, of Alireza Tajiki, a minor at the time of the events and at the time of his sentencing, and expresses its concerns about reports of the imminent execution of Mehdi Bohlouli, also sentenced to death when he was a juvenile. This execution is contrary to the international commitments that Iran itself has signed on to, particularly the international Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is also a step backward with respect to the positive developments we have seen on human rights in Iran, most notably the Iranian Parliament’s adoption of a law on August 13 limiting the scope of the death penalty. France reiterates its unwavering opposition to the death penalty throughout the world and in all circumstances. It encourages Iran to continue its efforts and to establish a moratorium with a view to its abolition.
