Albania expels Iranian diplomats with terrorist links

Image
Albanian foreign ministry On Wednesday, Albanian authorities declared that they had expelled two Iranian diplomats because of their "involvement in activities that harm the country's security" and for "violating their diplomatic status." One of those diplomats was the Iranian regime’s ambassador to Albania Gholamhossein Mohammadnia. “Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania just expelled the Iranian ambassador, signaling to Iran’s leaders that their support for terrorism will not be tolerated,” the U.S. President’s National Security Advisor, John Bolton,  tweeted . “We stand with PM Rama and the Albanian people as they stand up to Iran’s reckless behavior in Europe and across the globe.” While commending the move, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also reminded the broader threat of Tehran’s foreign terrorism. “European nations have thwarted three Iranian plots this year alone. The world must stand together to sanction Iran’s regime until it changes its d...

Iranian regime embassy in Tirana Expulsion from Albania of the mullahs’ Ambassador and Intelligence Ministry station chief is a necessary step in countering terrorism and the religious dictatorship ruling Iran Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, welcomed the expulsion of the Iranian regime’s Ambassador and Intelligence Ministry’s station chief in Albania. She described this courageous act as a necessary step in countering terrorism and the religious dictatorship ruling Iran and an imperative for the security of European countries. Last April, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that a terrorist plot hatched by the clerical regime against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) had been foiled. “We are on the right side of history. We are among European-Atlantic countries who are similarly under threat. I believe all these countries will act against terrorist threats,” Mr. Rama stated on April 19, 2018. Gho...

EU should support Iranian freedom fighters instead of investing in a fading theocracy

The 'Ashraf 3' Conference in Albania, on 25 November 2018. [Handout photo] Jaromír Štětina MEP, is a Czech journalist, writer and politician. He was a war correspondent for the conflict areas of the former Soviet Union. He is currently Vice-Chair of Subcommittee on Security and Defence in the European Parliament Last week, together with colleague MEP Tunne Kelam, and former MEP Struan Stevenson,  I visited “Ashraf 3”  the new site of the Iranian democratic opposition PMOI (MEK) in Albania outside Tirana. This visit was truly an inspiring journey and an eye-opener to how misinformation and fake news can deceive the general public about the reality when states like Iran use their vast financial resources to divert the truth. Nearly 3000 members of Iranian democratic opposition, many of whom have dedicated their entire lives to establish freedom and democracy in their country, are residing in Ashraf 3. As a war journalist covering various conflict zones in Europe a...

Meet the MEK: Iranian freedom fighters working to effect regime change

Image
In this Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 file photo, protesters burn an Iranian flag after storming and burning the Iranian consulate building in Basra, Iraq. (AP Photo/Nabil al-Jurani, On a recent business trip to  Albania , I was invited to visit the new camp of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of  Iran , or the  Mojahedin-e Khalq  (MEK), still being built about 45 minutes outside of Tirana, on the way to the Albanian coast. I accepted the invitation, although I must admit, I had no idea what to expect upon reaching the sprawling facility which is the new home for approximately 3,200 of the Iranian resistance movement’s personnel, after being forced out of Iraq by violence from the Iranian-backed government. I want to write more about the group and its agenda in the near future, but today I just want to explore what I found at ‘Ashraf 3’, which is the name the  MEK  has given the new camp, after the first Ashraf on the Iraqi border, where the group launch...

Iranian agents in the European Parliament; political cover for terrorist acts against the opposition in Albania, warns Campaign for Iran Change

Image
The activities by the agents of the Iranian regime in the European Parliament is a political cover for terror acts against the Iranian opposition in Albania Coordinator for Campaign for Iran Change (CIC) in a statement warned today that the activities by the agents of the Iranian regime in the European Parliament is a political cover for terror acts against the Iranian opposition in Albania. According to Struan Stevenson, a well-known European politician who was a member of the European Parliament for 15 years “Iran’s deep frustration after the organized transfer of thousands of members of the main democratic opposition movement from Iraq to Albania and the loss of the opportunity to massacre them is not a secret.  This transfer was the result of an unprecedented campaign by the Iranian opposition and its supporters in Europe and the United States. It took place under the noses of the theocratic fascist regime while the mullahs in Tehran had put all their efforts into ...
