Tehran students hold the third consecutive day of their protests

Student protests in Tehran (Archive) On Monday, the students of Azad University’s Science and Research branch in Tehran held demonstrations in protest to last week’s  tragic bus incident , which left ten dead and dozens injured. The protesting students sat in the middle of the street and blocked the road. At the same time, college students of Tehran University rallied and held a march on Monday outside the campus, protesting crackdown measures against college students of Azad University’s Science and Research branch. The students were chanting, “No fear, we’re all together” and “Incompetent officials, resign, resign.” Reports also indicate protesters clashing with oppressive security forces as authorities are taking measures to prevent the rally from expanding. “Coward, coward,” are other chants heard from the protesters against authorities. Tehran students vow to avenge classmates’ death in protest

Students held a large gathering today in the campus of the Tehran Azad University’s Science and Research Department in protest to the unaccountability of university officials on the death of 10 people killed in a bus  accident  in the mountainous regions of the capital. The bus was carrying 30 students along a mountainous road within the science research campus of the Islamic Azad University in northwestern Tehran when it came off the road and hit a concrete column on Christmas day. The protesters chanted against university officials demanding their resignation. “Velayati shame on you, abandon the university,” they chanted addressing Ali Akbar  Velayati , the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the  Azad Islamic University . Students of Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran hold a massive gathering  A large number of students at Tehran’s Amirkabir University of Technology held a rally on Tuesday morning in solidarity with protesting and jailed workers, and students and teachers who are currently held behind bars. The students, forming a long chain, were holding a variety of signs and chanting slogans: “Cannons, tanks, guns, they are no longer effective” “Workers, students, unite, unite” “Jailed workers, students & teachers must be released” “Victory is near. Down with this deceptive government.” The mullahs’ regime, deeply concerned of the expanding college students’ protests and the number of protesters in this rally, dispatched its repressive and plainclothes agents to the campus to hold an anti-rally.
