Washington protesters demand ‘regime change’ in Iran

Image
AFP, Washington Hundreds of people turned out in Washington Friday demanding regime change in Iran and denouncing “atrocity toward the people” under Tehran’s regime. Protesters waved Iranian flags as they chanted for “regime change now” – with some holding portraits of Maryam Rajavi, leader of the People’s Mujahedin, an Iranian opposition group banned in the country. “The regime inside Iran is doing so much atrocity toward the people. Iran in whole has been destroyed by this regime,” said Michael Passi, an Iranian-American engineer. “There are a lot of executions, a lot of tortures and a lot of export of terrorism by this regime,” he alleged. “We want separation of religion and the state,” added Mina Entezari, an Arizona-based designer who was a political prisoner in Iran for seven years. “We want freedom for people.” Effigies of President Rouhani and Supreme Leader Khamenei march with the Organization of Iranian-American Communities on March 8, 2019 in Washi...

HOW MARYAM RAJAVI WILL CHANGE IRAN

Image
Iran is currently ruled by a fundamentalist theocracy that justifies its malign hold over the magnificent country with a mixture of anti-Western sentiments and a false interpretation of Islam. The Iranian Regime, which for the past 40 years has been a model for fundamentalist groups to follow, is the number one source for terrorism in the Middle East and indeed the world. But it doesn’t have to be this way. There is a new, better leader for Iran who is already fighting to bring freedom and democracy to the nation. Her name is  Maryam Rajavi . Maryam Rajavi is the leader of the Iranian Resistance and she has been fighting fundamentalism in Iran since the mullahs first stole power during the 1979 revolution. Maryam Rajavi said: “The Iranian regime is the founding state for most of the atrocities and evil which fundamentalist groups have perpetrated and are perpetrating by using the mullahs’ rule as a role model… The Velayat-e faqih regime [is] the godfather of terrorism, th...

Why Europe's efforts to change the Iranian regime's behavior constantly fail

Europe’s “special purpose vehicle” After the current U.S. administration pulled out of the flawed Iran nuclear deal, the European Union promised to the ruling theocracy in Iran to create a Special Purpose Vehicle to circumvent U.S. sanctions and allow the Iranian regime to continue selling its oil without repercussions. But while the end-2018 deadline for setting up the clearinghouse-like mechanism, has already passed, no European initiative has appeared on the horizon. Meanwhile, some European officials did their best to express their commitment to the Iran deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). In her personal blog, EU’s high representative for foreign relations and security policy Federica Mogherini published  an article  titled “Twelve things to bring with us in 2019” and described her efforts to rescue the deal by creating “a mechanism to let our [European] firms continue their legitimate business with Iran.” While the staunch su...

Iran’s 2018 protests indicate change in 2019

On December 28, 2017, the massive demonstrations that rocked Mashhad, quickly spread from the north east province of Khorasan to 142 cities in Iran. The demonstration, initially in protest to high prices, quickly changed course in as little as 24 hours with protesters directly targeting the whole Iranian regime in its entirety.   Angry protesters all over Iran chanted against the leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei and its president, Rouhani, demanding regime change.   Despite the ensuing waves of suppression and the arrest of activists and protesters and the increased number of the execution of prisoners, the protests continued the whole year round indicating that the regime had failed to contain the fury of Iranians. Contrary to 2017, when only a few cities witnessed protests, it is now difficult to find a city in Iran that has not erupted in protests this year. Various sectors of Iran’s society including workers, teachers, students, bazaar merchants, tru...
