Image
Iranian women's struggle on the eve of International Women's Day The 20 th  century was the era of both the formation and escalation of women’s liberation movements in course of realizing women’s equal rights in all of its aspects, to put an end to gender discrimination. It was for these struggles that despite major hurdles on its way, women’s equality could take steps forward. From the 1908 strike of women workers of a textile factory in New York, where women protested against working conditions, which turned to a symbolic day for women’s equality movement, up to now, a long path has been paved. As Iranian Regime Terrorism Grows, Need a Strong International Approach

Image
For the last few decades, the approach to the regime from the international community has been  sanctions  but little else. The recent Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) fell short because it did not address the human rights violations and abuses in Iran, as well as the increasing influence of the regime throughout the region. Its support of terrorist activities only increased as sanctions were lifted. With the election of U.S. President  Donald Trump , there is a change in the approach to Iran. The  Trump administration  withdrew the U.S. from the JCPOA in May 2018, but more than that, they have also started to call Iran to account for its actions against the Iranian people. In response, the regime’s terrorist activities, particularly against the  MEK/PMOI  and the Iranian resistance coalition known as the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), have only increased. In the last 18 months, multiple  arrests  have been m...

Iran: Amnesty International Report Should Follow Strong Action – OpEd

Image
Amnesty International has published a  200-page comprehensive report  on the massacre of political prisoners in Iran, 30 years after it actually took place. Its main focus is the dark days of 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran. Had the 1988 massacre been given enough international attention it deserved back then, Iranian people would not have faced unbridle human rights abuses in the years that followed. Impunity for crimes in those days, embolden the regime over the years to the extent that it is leveling the graves of the same victims all over Iran. “The UN establishes an independent, impartial and effective international mechanism to help bring those responsible for these abhorrent crimes to justice,” the “Blood soaked” history of 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran will be put to rest”, the report concludes. The human rights watchdog also says that these are crimes against humanity and the perpetrators should be hauled before the interna...

Trump's decertification of the nuclear deal could be what Iran's rulers fear most

Image
Iranian regime poses a multitude of threats to international peace and security, all of which have to be addressed. By Amir Basiri   Washington Examiner- Oct. 6, 2017-  Varying sources have confirmed that President Trump will decertify the Iran nuclear deal come an Oct. 15 deadline. This will mean that the president does not see the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as the deal is formally known, as vital to the national security interests of the U.S. It will then be up to Congress to decide whether to scrap the deal and reimpose sanctions on the Iranian regime or to preserve it and take other necessary measures to address its flaws. The question now is what this move means for Iranian regime, and how its leaders will react? Iranian officials have threatened to walk away from the deal and the enrichment of uranium on several reprises in the past months as Trump intensified the tough talk against the accord's failures and Tehran's unlawful ventures.
