The protests come at a time when Khamenei, afraid of popular protest movements, had affirmed in a ridiculous fatwa that “ Chaharshanbe Suri  (Fire Festival) has no religious basis and if leads to damage or corruption or propagation of false beliefs, not permitted.” In addition, henchmen of the mullahs regime’s judiciary had warned in various cities that they would deal severely with “those in violation.” In Tehran and a number of cities like Kermanshah, Mashad, Karaj, Masjed Soleiman, Khoramabad, Semnan, Ilam, and Mahshahr the youth shouted: “death to Khamenei, death to the principle of Velayat-e-faqih, death to the dictator, with you dictator we would fight fire with fire”. A large number of retired steel mill workers rallied in Isfahan, central Iran, protesting not receiving their insurance pensions and New Year bonuses from March 2018. Hundreds of retired army personnel are rallying on Tuesday despite the facade of promises and pledges by the Iranian regime.  Numerous cities across Iran witnessed a variety of protest rallies on Tuesday. In the town of Varzaneh of Isfahan Province, central Iran, hardworking farmers took to the streets once again, protesting the policies of Iranian regime authorities rerouting local river waters for government and Revolutionary Guards ( IRGC ) projects. These initiatives are leaving locals deprived of any water for their lands. Students held a large gathering today in the campus of the Tehran Azad University’s Science and Research Department in protest to the unaccountability of university officials on the death of 10 people killed in a bus  accident  in the mountainous regions of the capital. The bus was carrying 30 students along a mountainous road within the science research campus of the Islamic Azad University in northwestern Tehran when it came off the road and hit a concrete column on Christmas day. Iran: Steelworkers’ protest in Ahvaz faces a blatant crackdown Steelworkers’ protest in the city of  Ahvaz  entered its 38th consecutive day On Monday, Dec. 17. On that day, the protest faced a new round of crackdown by the Iran regime’s security forces.  Mass arrests took place overnight . The raids targeted the homes of Iranian National Steel Industries Group (INSIG) workers. They were carried out in absence of warrants, as in cases of politically motivated arrests. Dozens of workers were arrested and many spent nights out of their homes to avoid arrest. Once again, in the early hours of Tuesday, security forces raided several homes and arrested 10 more. According to the observers, at least 41 individuals were arrested at their homes or in the streets for participating in the steelworkers’ protest, demanding their legitimate rights. Ramadan al-Saadi, Al Arabiya English Workers at Iran’s Ahwaz steel factory took to the streets on Monday to protest while wearing Islamic burial clothes in a symbolic gesture of their worsening financial and psychological conditions.  According to local sources, the protestors walked in Ahwaz streets chanting against the regime until they reached governmental institutions where they continued to protest. Media reports said protestors also chanted against the deteriorating situation of the steel company and against not receiving their wages for several months. The most prominent offices where the protestors gathered were that of the deputy supreme leader in Ahwaz and that of Mousavi Jazayeri, Imam al-Jomah of Ahwaz.
