Security forces continue to arrest workers of Ahvaz steel company

Workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group have been on strike for the past 39 days. The Iranian regime continues to intensify a crackdown on the workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group in Ahvaz who have been on strike and demonstrating for their most basic rights in the past 39 days. In the early hours of Tuesday, security forces raided several homes and violently arrested 10 more of the protesting workers. In a similar raid on the previous night, the Iranian regime’s forces had  arrested several other workers . Security forces transferred workers who have been arrested in the past 24 hours to Ahvaz’s Sheyban Prison. The General Assembly of the Ahvaz Steel Workers declared that they would not engage in any negotiations with Iranian authorities until all prisoners are released. The brave workers of Ahvaz Steel started their thirtieth-two day of strike on Tuesday December 11 with a rally in front of the governorate of the regime in Ahvaz. Many workers had white shrouds on which slogans such as "We stand, we die, we do not accept humiliation" was written. Ramadan al-Saadi, Al Arabiya English Workers at Iran’s Ahwaz steel factory took to the streets on Monday to protest while wearing Islamic burial clothes in a symbolic gesture of their worsening financial and psychological conditions.  According to local sources, the protestors walked in Ahwaz streets chanting against the regime until they reached governmental institutions where they continued to protest. Media reports said protestors also chanted against the deteriorating situation of the steel company and against not receiving their wages for several months. The most prominent offices where the protestors gathered were that of the deputy supreme leader in Ahwaz and that of Mousavi Jazayeri, Imam al-Jomah of Ahwaz. The workers had previously held demonstrations in September. The workers held signs that read, “We the workers are ashamed to tell our children the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized our property.” 20 years ago, the company had handed over 150,000 cubic meters of land in Tehranpars district, eastern Tehran, to 700 Pegah Co. workers for residential purposes. Workers say that the land is what they have put their years of life on– the workers had sold many of their belongings during the past years in hope to have a roof above their head, but now they have to live in rental homes, losing a big share of their wages. Workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group protested in Ahvaz for the 26 consecutive day On Wednesday, the workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group in Ahvaz, Khuzestan province, took to the streets of Ahvaz for the 26 th  consecutive day to protest for their rights. The workers were chanting “we will not give in to disgrace.” The workers were marching toward the main streets of the city, holding banners that read, “Workers are awake and fed up with being exploited.” The workers of the Ahvaz steel factory have been demanding the payment of their overdue salaries for months. The lives of thousands of workers and their families have been negatively impacted by the by the deteriorating working conditions at the factory and the corrupt practices of its administrators. Demonstration by the workers of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane company in Iran  On Wednesday, the workers of the Haft Tapeh sugar cane company in Shush, Khuzestan, began the 17 th  day of their demonstrations in protest to unpaid wages, the arrest of their colleagues and the government’s lack of response to their demands. The protesters were chanting, “Imprisoned workers must be freed.” The protesters were holding pictures of imprisoned workers. Last week, the Iranian regime’s security forces arrested several of the protesters and their spokespersons. On Monday, under the pressure of mounting tensions and expanding protests, regime officials released all but four of the protesters and a local reporter. The regime has yet to respond to the demands of the workers. Haft Tapeh is the largest sugar cane factory in Iran and one of the largest in the Middle East. The workers were chanting: “Workers of Khuzestan, unite, unite” On Tuesday, a group of these workers held a gathering outside the governor’s office and the entrance of the Ahvaz Sports Complex. They were blocking the path for the convoy of Iranian regime vice president Eshagh Jahangiri and voicing their protests.
