Trump’s job performance?  Vote Here!   Oppressive regimes have never been inevitable. In fact, their apparent inevitability is because they possess the trappings of power. But underneath the trimmings, they lack popular support. There have been and may still be many misconceptions about what is going on inside Iran, but since the end of December, many of those fallacies have been dispelled. A major uprising is going on, a level of unrest that lays bare the lack of backing of Iran’s people for their unwanted rulers. On Feb. 28, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani addressed a luncheon at the National Press Club (NPC) to discuss Iran and the uprising. “Some 142 cities had protests, which means

Ignore the Foreign-Policy ‘Experts’ Who Defend the Iran Deal

Image
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.S. National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster during the U.N. General Assembly in New York The efforts of the foreign-policy establishment to defend the Iran nuclear deal are boosting the case for Trump to change it. The prevailing narrative about the Trump administration’s foreign policy in the mainstream media is that a gallant band of “adults” have spent the last year keeping the barbarians at bay. But with the firings of Rex Tillerson and General H. R. McMaster, the walls have been breached. With Mike Pompeo at the State Department and John Bolton now serving as national-security adviser, there will be no stopping Trump from the one thing the foreign-policy establishment most fears: launching an all out effort to replace or scrap the Iran nuclear deal.   The effort to depict policy debates within the administration as between adults and children was always a not terribly subtle way for the foreign-policy establishment and its cheerle

Saudi Arabia 'reserves the right to respond on this hostile Iranian action at the right time and place'. In his first comments on the attack, Mr Al Jubeir said his country had captured and shown evidence to the international community that Iran is arming the Houthis with ballistic missiles, and that Tehran's den

Widespread Support For John Bolton As National Security Advisor

Commentators agree that by appointing John Bolton as National Security Advisor (NSA), the President has made an excellent choice to confront the challenges of a dangerous world “President Trump has said he is at last assembling a Cabinet team to his liking, and late Thursday he announced that John Bolton will replace General H.R. McMaster as his National Security Adviser. It is a solid and experienced choice…. Mr. Bolton’s first job will be to prepare the President for an historic meeting with Kim Jong Un. We may assume Pyongyang knows now that bluffing the U.S. won’t work.  FORMER SENATOR TOM COBURN (R-OK) IN USA TODAY: Bolton Right Choice on National Securit “The president’s decision to appoint John Bolton as his national security adviser reflects an understanding of the critical lessons of history, and the Bolton designation will greatly reduce the grave risks now faced by America during today’s increasingly troubled times.” USA TODAY’S JAMES S. Trump likely to quit Iran deal, Corker says

Image
The Iran deal will be another issue thats coming up in May, Sen. Bob Corker said describing the timeline Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker said Sunday that he believes President Donald Trump is likely to pull the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal in May, a step that would undo one of the major foreign policy achievements claimed by former President Barack Obama. Corker (R-Tenn.) told CBS’s “Face the Nation” that such a move by Trump could be avoided if the president’s concerns, which deal largely with Iran’s actions outside the specifics of the nuclear deal, are addressed as part of a multilateral framework. Such an agreement seems unlikely, Corker said. “The Iran deal will be another issue that's coming up in May, and right now it doesn't feel like it's going to be extended. I think the president likely will move away from it, unless my — our European counterparts really come together on a framework. And it doesn't feel to me that the

Deaf Ear, Blind Eye for Iran’s Human Rights Abuses

When it comes to human rights violations in Iran, Europe’s stance is often influenced by its economic interests.  Whenever Europe is mentioned outside the continent itself, one key feature associated with it by non-Europeans is human rights. Whenever its leaders come together to discuss global matters, they ostensibly emphasize the importance of upholding human rights around the world. While the recent protests in Iran were still ongoing, Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi, a prominent and infamous figure in Iran, was receiving advanced medical treatment in Germany. Ayatollah Shahroudi served as Iran’s chief justice from 1999 to 2009, his tenure coinciding with protests by Iranian university students in July 1999 that became known as the Kooye Daneshgah confrontation. The protests started peacefully, provoked by the closure of reformist Salam newspaper and the campaign against dissidents, known as the Chain Murders, that stretched from 1988 and came to light in the fall of 1998.

Terror Victims Can See Boeing Contract with Iran Air

As part of the family’s ongoing attempt to collect on its judgment against Iran,  A federal judge ruled Boeing must produce its $16 billion contract with Iran Air, a historic agreement made possible by the Iran nuclear deal, in response to discovery requests filed by victims of Palestinian terrorist attacks in Israel. The family of Leibovitch, the lead plaintiff in a group of 21 family members, won a $32 million award for a Palestinian Islamic Jihad attack that killed his brother-in-law and maimed his daughter in 2003. As part of the family’s ongoing attempt to collect on its judgment against Iran, Leibovitch served Boeing with discovery requests seeking to identify Iranian assets being held by the Chicago-based aerospace company. Specifically, the requests seek information about the $16 billion contract between Boeing and Iran Air for 80 commercial airplanes, a deal made possible by the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, commonly referred to as the Iran

A wounded Syrian child is treated at a makeshift hospital in the rebel-held town of Douma, in the besieged Eastern Ghouta With the reported death toll in Eastern Ghouta exceeding 670 since the air bombardment started on February 13, the US administration upped the ante on Friday, threatening the Assad regime that it “will not tolerate the atrocities” and calling on Russia to immediately uphold a ceasefire all over Syria. The White House, following Donald Trump calls to Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, issued a statement on Friday that stresses the urgency of the situation in Syria. The leaders agreed that “the Syrian regime, and its Russian and Iranian supporters, should immediately and fully implement  United Nations  Security Council Resolution 2401” calling for an immediate ceasefire across Syria, it said.  It addressed Moscow directly, calling for a halt of its bombing in Eastern Ghouta, and to pressure “the Assad regime to halt
