The US condemned on Tuesday the appointment of a notorious ayatollah, responsible for the deaths of thousands of political prisoners in the 1980s, to head Iran’s all-powerful Judiciary. US State Department’s Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino tweeted, in both Farsi and English, that the appointment of conservative cleric Ebrahim Raisi was a “disgrace”, given that he served on the Tehran Death Committee that sent thousands of political prisoners to the gallows in the  summer of 1988 . Independent judiciary; What the Iranians expect to have in a free Iran Human social evolution history tells us there is no dictator, who would not attempt to preserve its power over people through all kind of suppression, deception, and crime. In this regard, dictators the law enforcement to an oppressive organ, although they pretend that they respect an  independent judiciary . Religious dictatorship ruling Iran has deprived its own people of their basic human rights, this regime does not even respect the international human rights conventions, which it is a signatory of, let alone recognizing an independent judiciary. Thus, the Iranian people will not benefit from an independent judiciary until the mullahs are ruling, because hawks will not pick out hawks’ eyes. Therefore, exacting an independent judiciary on mullahs is an important factor to help Iranians’ struggle for achieving freedom and justice.
