Who is Marzieh Hashemi, the Press TV anchor whose arrest has frustrated Iranian regime officials?

Hashemi is reportedly an agent of Ministry of Intelligence and Security under the cover of a TV anchor Last week, an American-born TV anchor who was working for Iran’s state-run broadcasting channel was arrested by FBI when she landed at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri. Marzieh Hashemi, born Melanie Franklin of New Orleans, who is working for the English-language arm of Iranian regime’s state-run TV channel, graduated in broadcasting field in 1979, when the Iranian people overthrew Shah and Khomeini seized the power in Iran. Franklin then chose her pro-Khomeini husband’s family name, Hashemi. Security forces continue to arrest workers of Ahvaz steel company

Workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group have been on strike for the past 39 days. The Iranian regime continues to intensify a crackdown on the workers of Iran National Steel Industrial Group in Ahvaz who have been on strike and demonstrating for their most basic rights in the past 39 days. In the early hours of Tuesday, security forces raided several homes and violently arrested 10 more of the protesting workers. In a similar raid on the previous night, the Iranian regime’s forces had  arrested several other workers . Security forces transferred workers who have been arrested in the past 24 hours to Ahvaz’s Sheyban Prison. The General Assembly of the Ahvaz Steel Workers declared that they would not engage in any negotiations with Iranian authorities until all prisoners are released. Raheleh Rahemipour has spent years trying to uncover the truth about what happened to her brother Amnesty International, 11 September 2017  - The Iranian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release a human rights defender arrested from her home last night, who has previously been targeted by the authorities for her peaceful activism, said Amnesty International. Raheleh Rahemipour has spent years trying to uncover the truth about what happened to her brother and baby niece who were forcibly disappeared while in custody during the early 1980s.
